The Gatherer is responsible for the practical side of witch preservation. She tends gardens, gathers wild plants, harvests what the season provides and preserves anything that might prove useful at a later date.

Her collection of jars is extensive. Their contents are not always identifiable, and the Society accepts no responsibility for labels that have become illegible, misleading or mysteriously detached.

The Gatherer is also known for her generosity, her resourcefulness and her firm belief that most problems can be solved with compost, nettle tea or a well-placed slug pellet.

She is always willing to help a neighbour. Neighbours are advised to be specific about what they ask for.

Her advice is freely given, whether wanted or not.
