The 2026 Witch Population Survey

The Society has long observed a curious seasonal phenomenon: witches become considerably more visible in the week leading up to Halloween.

Individuals who have remained quietly in the background for much of the year begin to emerge from their usual hiding places. Sightings increase, familiar locations take on a different character, and the village's witch population becomes much harder to overlook.

Whether this is due to ancient custom, changing magical conditions or simply a collective decision that it is time to make an appearance remains the subject of ongoing investigation.

Following the events of the Wookey Hole Witch Trials, the Society is taking no chances. A fresh population survey is now underway to establish the number of witches residing in the village, record their locations and learn more about their habits.

Our current survey suggests that the Society's three officers may be only a small part of a much larger population.

Reports of additional witches have been received from across Wookey Hole. Some appear to have settled quietly into their surroundings; others are less inclined to go unnoticed. A number have proved remarkably good at blending in.
